Last week, Sustain participated in Bristol’s Business Green Week and Big Green Week events. The two events, designed to celebrate and further encourage sustainability within the city, coincided to make an exciting week for staff at Sustain and businesses from across Bristol.
We ran an exciting range of activities in our office – from showing short films highlighting global issues, to providing a hearty breakfast for staff who have switched up their commute – all to raise the profile of sustainability in the city and celebrate it’s ongoing progress. It was great to see a wide range of other businesses – over 70 in total! – getting involved and was a real testament to the city’s commitment to green issues. We’re really looing forward to seeing what next year brings!
We were also lucky to be involved in a number of other great events – including Big Green Week’s ‘Smart Homes: More than Just a House’ with Kevin McCloud from Grand Designs and HAB Housing where our CEO Tobias Parker spoke about the future of home heating in his ‘Beyond the Boiler’ talk. It was great to see so many people interested in the humble boiler and eager to find out what comes next. Read Toby’s recent blog to find out.
To end the week we hosted our ‘Feel Good Friday’ drinks event at Bordeaux Quay, where we invited a wide range of Bristol businesses to celebrate their achievements from throughout the week with a drink on us and Almeda – a Bristol based facilities management company. Thanks to all who came along who made the event a great success! On Saturday, we were delighted to take part in the second annual Bristol Grand Prix as sponsors where we placed sixth above some tough competition (including the cycling buffs at MudDock!) in the corporate relay race.
In all, the week was another reason to be positive about Bristol’s future! With more businesses than ever signed up to Business Green Week and another great year for Big Green Week, the future looks bright.
