carbon emissions reduction target

CERT is a legal obligation placed on the largest 6 UK energy suppliers and is designed to reduce carbon emissions from the UK domestic housing stock under the government's Climate Change agenda. CERT will currently run until December 2012 and has a 293 Mt (lifetime) CO₂ target, of which 40% of the obligation must be met in the Priority Group (people on certain income related benefits or aged 70 years and over). 68% - 73.2 MT (lifetime) CO₂ - must be met by promoting professionally installed insulation measures.
