We work with architects, developers, construction companies and
PFI groups to help them meet or exceed requirements such as Part L, EPCs, BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes.
Our service includes exploring the real life feasibility of
installing different low and zero carbon
technologies to achieve carbon savings. This analysis is often
required as part of energy statements for planning
applications.
If a low or zero carbon technology is chosen we provide designs and
specifications. We have a particular expertise in combined heat and power (CHP) technology.
The design of the fabric of new buildings is becoming increasingly
important and we can model the impact of improvements to the fabric
including modelling the Passivhaus standard. We also have the
capability to do 3D daylight and thermal comfort
modelling.
The UK Government has set targets for zero carbon homes by 2016 and
zero carbon buildings by 2019. It has been proposed that this is
met by a hierarchy of an energy efficiency standard, carbon
compliance and allowable solutions. We can provide complete
assistance on all these tiers.
Our environmental accounting team are experienced at carbon
footprinting and reporting on the embodied carbon of construction
materials.
