organisational carbon footprinting

Our carbon footprints are conducted to a number of integrated standards and protocols. These are the international standard for greenhouse gas reporting, ISO14064, governmental guidance for environmental reporting issued by DEFRA and guidance and standards produced by industry leaders such as the World Resources Institute and the Carbon Trust. Consequently Sustain's footprints are produced to a high quality and the client is assured that the methods are replicable and the results are comparable.  As Sustain is an accredited carbon trust consultant; we can produce an outline carbon footprint with funding from the Carbon Trust - so long as your organisation meets the CT funding criteria.

Carbon footprinting measures, calculates and reports the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of an organisation, process or a product. Although the description implies just carbon, other GHGs are reported such as refrigerant gases. An organisation's carbon footprint is generally included as a key element of a wider environmental audit. It may also be conducted as an independent study. Typically, your carbon footprint will be based on an energy audit but will also consider refrigerant gas losses and other emissions arising from aspects such as business travel and commuting. Sustain can advise on the scope of the footprint.
