• Product Carbon Footprints: Which looks at the
greenhouse gas emissions associated with a product or service. There
are various ways in which Sustain can assess the carbon footprint
(including embodied carbon). Once a footprint has
been determined it can be used to introduce a carbon improvement
scheme, which will help to reduce carbon impact of the product or
service. We offer footprints to a number of different standards,
including the PAS2050 and the new French
environmental label.
• Water Footprinting: The products we consume are
manufactured and transported from around the world. The production
of all products requires water, which is used in production
processes. However, water is a valuable resource, especially in
some regions around the world. Water footprinting is a tool that
can be used to assess the water burden of a product or
service.
• Life Cycle Assessment (LCA): LCA is a sophisticated decision
support tool. It offers a holistic, whole systems, approach to
environmental assessment and can capture up to 18 different
environmental impact categories in a single study. Sustain offer
different levels of LCA services, as outlined on our dedicated LCA page.
• Training and Support: We offer tailored training
and support packages which take into account the specific needs of
the target audience and the client.
• Organisational Carbon Footprints: We can produce
an organisational
footprint to the international standard for greenhouse gas
reporting, ISO14064, governmental guidance for environmental
reporting issued by DEFRA and guidance and standards produced by
industry leaders such as the World Resources Institute and the
Carbon Trust. Sustain is an accredited carbon trust consultant; we
can produce an outline carbon footprint with funding from the
Carbon Trust - so long as your organisation meets the CT funding
criteria.
• Carbon Reduction Commitment: It is imperative
that organisations act now to understand how they will be affected
by the Carbon Reduction
Commitment (CRC) and achieve a smooth entry into the scheme,
optimise their compliance strategy and gain a competitive

For your guidance we have created free briefing documents on the PAS 2050 (Carbon Trust developed footprinting method), PAS 2060 (carbon neutrality standard) and the new French environmental labelling initiative. We also have a number of case studies, which outline the work we have done with some of our previous clients.
Furthermore, at Sustain we have been using our expertise to help with the development of international standards. We were part of the pilot phase of the development of the PAS 2050 and are also contributing to the development of the upcoming GHG Protocol - Product Carbon Footprints, which will be published by the WRI and WBCSD in 2011, and we are also a member of the technical committee for the development of the ISO 14067 (Product Carbon Footprints), which is due in 2012.
