Areas of expertise include:
- Stakeholder analysis using a variety of qualitative and quantitative techniques. We have conducted numerous studies assessing behavioural and attitudinal aspects of sustainability. This is sometimes called social, cultural or behavioural research. We are expert in design and execution of focus groups and in depth interviews, questionnaire design and distribution
- Energy modeling, stock condition survey and SAP database analysis
- Statistical analysis - using the industry leading software package, SPSS
- Secondary data analysis - analysis of large datasets such as the Census and English House Condition survey
- Sustainable energy and affordable warmth strategy
- Geographical Information Systems - analysing and mapping data. We use mapping technology to present data in an intuitive and engaging way, providing a geographical interface to a database. We produce maps of indicators such as heat and energy demand, fuel poverty and the distribution of carbon reduction technologies.
Examples of particular strategy and research projects include development of affordable warmth strategy for a number of housing associations, modeling What If? scenarios for targeted efficiency improvements in housing stocks, mapping the UK domestic boiler market using census data for a boiler manufacturer, a study of Energy Performance Certificates for the UK Energy Research Centre, an assessment of the role of domestic forestry as part of an organisation's carbon offsetting plans and a study of the role of fuel efficiency in car choice for central government.
