PAS2050 Briefing Document

Product carbon footprinting and labeling has become more prominent in the last two years through high profile studies for the likes of Walker Crisps, Innocent Smoothies, Tesco and Co-op.

These have been conducted in conjunction with the Carbon Trust and as part of a pilot programme building towards a standard approach that produces consistent results and valid comparison between products and services. Publication Available Specification 2050 has been the basis on which the studies have been conducted with the aim of creating a
set of standards within which all studies are conducted.

PAS 2050 was released in its final form on 29th October 2008 and is now likely to form the basis for the carbon footprint of products and services for the immediate future.
