Carbon reduction company Sustain has appointed Rob Knight to head up its 30-strong utilities team.

Rob joins from npower, where he was responsible for delivering its regulatory efficiency programmes, such as the Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT), before taking on a broader role to assess the impacts of emerging Government policies on the business.

Sustain already manages significant national energy efficiency programmes with three of the big utility companies - EDF Energy, npower and Scottish and Southern Energy - helping them to deliver their carbon reduction targets through schemes such as CERT and the Community Energy Saving Programme (CESP).

Rob said: "The policy landscape is changing rapidly, particularly with the advent of the Green Deal and the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) over the next few years, and this means the utility companies are entering unchartered waters.

"Sustain has a strong track record in understanding the impacts of these policies, developing highly innovative ideas and implementing programmes that will not only ensure regulatory targets are met but also create new commercial opportunities for the utility sector."
