Solar panels and a biomass heating system are just two of the low carbon technologies being considered by carbon reduction company Sustain as part of a project to cut carbon emissions at its office in Wrington, Bristol.
A study has now been completed by the building services team which compares the cost and carbon savings of a range of measures designed to cut the building's CO2 emissions by 59 per cent over the next year.
Insulation and draft proofing measures have just been completed and the first low carbon technology to be installed in January 2010 will be solar thermal panels to heat the showers for the staff who commute by bicycle. The remaining measures will be implemented during the course of next year.
Annie Brown, building services design manager, said: "We've now carried out a full appraisal of all the energy savings options and we are all excited to see plans taking shape. As a company that advises clients on how to reduce carbon, it is vital that we lead by example and cut carbon out of our own business."
The building services team specialises in low energy advice and design for existing and new buildings.
