Vaillant, the heating appliance manufacturer, knew they were selling a lot of boilers but they didn't know precisely where these sales where ending up. A geographical analysis of sales was needed so that Vaillant could effectively plan its sales strategy and begin to target resources more effectively. Consequently, Vaillant asked us to identify and map the market for central heating system boilers across the country.

solution

We are expert at large dataset analysis, for example the use of census and English House Condition Survey. These and other datasets were used to quantify and map the market and Vaillant sales across the country.

outcome

The resulting study showed the annual market for boilers amongst different tenure groups at the local authority level. It also showed Vaillant sales at the same level thereby also allowing Vaillant to calculate its market share in any given region of the country. This quickly allowed Vaillant to calculate where its resources are best targeted. This report has now become a central resource for Vaillant's sales strategy.
