Board Business Services Programme Management Services Consultancy Services Associates Board Tony Nec, Chief Executive Tony is a co-founder and Chief Executive of Sustain. Prior to setting up Sustain in 1997, he was Chairman of the Bristol Energy Centre, Executive Director of the Centre for Sustainable Energy and Director of Energy Action Scotland. He has been an active champion of sustainability for over 25 years. Lisbet Michelsen, Chair of Board of Directors Lisbet is a co-founder of Sustain and Chairperson of the Board of Directors. Prior to setting up Sustain in 1997, she was active in the community health and social work sector, and has experience of numerous fuel poverty projects. Tobias Parker, Business Services Director Tobias oversees the business services team, looking at marketing and development issues, human resources and internal system development. He previously lived in Hong Kong, working as a business consultant for blue chip clients in Southeast Asia and Greater China. He joined Sustain in 2003 having gained a distinction for a Master of Science degree in Environmental Science, Policy & Planning from the University of Bath. He is currently studying an Executive MBA at Tanaka Business School, Imperial College London. Simon Gait, Programmes Director Simon is responsible for managing and developing Sustain’s programme management services business unit. He joined Sustain in 2000 from the forestry sector having gained a distinction from the University of Bath's Environmental Science, Policy & Planning Master of Science degree course. He developed and managed the industry award-winning A1 Boiler scheme for npower. Simon is a member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment. Sandy Smith, Consultancy Services Director Sandy is a multi-disciplined sustainability consultant who specialises in strategy and policy work in both the public and private sector. Sandy joined Sustain in 2002 after previous experience in the application of Life Cycle Assessment work and sustainability. Sandy completed his PhD in Life Cycle Assessment in 2002. He has worked with large corporations including Wolseley PLC and Balfour Beatty. Back to top
Business Services Adrian Warman, General Manager Adrian works within the business support team, developing and maintaining Sustain's ICT hardware and software infrastructure, as well as Sustain's premises and communications systems. He previously worked as Applications Support Manager and Operations Manager for a mail order company with an £18 million turnover and employing over 100 staff. He joined Sustain in 2005 and holds a Certificate in Management Studies as well as a BSc (Hons) from the University of Bristol. Stephanie Franklin, Marketing Executive Stephanie provides proactive marketing and communications support to all areas of Sustain. She assists in the development and implementation of marketing plans. She has a Chartered Institute of Marketing Diploma as well as experience in event management, public relations and design layout. Stephanie joined Sustain in 2004. Liz Burgin, Accounts Supervisor Liz carries out day-to-day management of the Sustain accounts in her role as Accounts Supervisor. Liz started work with Sustain in 1997, with previous experience in banking and as head of accounts for an insurance company. Cora Parsons, Administrative Assistant Cora joined Sustain in 2005 as a programmes administrator. In 2007 she took up an opportunity to move to the Business Services department and a role providing a wide variety of essential administrative support to managers and teams across the company’s three offices. She has a background as a PA and in travel management. Desiree Hanssen, EPC Administrator Desiree joined Sustain in 2007 when we began providing Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) to home owners through our team of in house accredited surveyors. Relocating from a technical position in London to join our admin team, Desiree has contributed significantly to the development of procedures and software to handle this new and growing service efficiently and with a strong focus on excellent customer service. Back to top Programme Management Services Juliet Morse, Programme Manager Juliet provides programme management services to energy suppliers, manufacturers and housing associations. She joined Sustain in 2004 with previous experience in developing renewable energy programmes in the social housing sector. Alan Peak-Payne, Assistant Programme Manager Alan is an experienced project manager and assists the programme management team in providing services to energy suppliers, manufacturers and housing associations. Alan joined Sustain in 2005. Lindsey Sage, Programme Assistant – Sales Lindsey provides a sales function within her team focusing on measures reducing carbon emissions. She also provides a client management service to Sustain customers. Lindsey joined Sustain in 2005 Gillian Self, Customer Service Assisstant Gill works with social housing providers and contractors to arrange the installation of energy efficiency measures in communal heating situations. Gill joined Sustain in 2007. Sarah Snell, A1-Low Carbon Solutions Manager Sarah co-ordinates and manages the day-to-day running of the A1 team, ensuring that the A1-Low Carbon Solutions scheme runs effectively. She also builds and maintains relationships with strategic partner organisations under A1. Sarah joined Sustain in 2003. Phillip Morris, A1- Insulation Project Manager Phillip manages the A1-Insualtion scheme. In his role he co-ordinates the administration support and reporting for the scheme as well as maintaining relationships with partner organisations. Phillip joined Sustain in 2007, having worked for the Environment Agency. Phillip has an academic background in Environmental Science and is a qualified Domestic Energy Assessor. Margaret Ivory, Team Leader Margaret carries out data input and processing as well as providing general administration support at Sustain's office. Margaret joined Sustain in 2003. Fiona Barnes, Administrator Fiona carries out data input and processing as well as providing general administration support at Sustain's office. Fiona joined Sustain in 2005. Helen Fleetwoood, Administrator Helen carries out data input and processing as well as providing general administration support at Sustain's office. Helen joined Sustain in 2006. Hayley Frapwell, Administrator Hayley carries out data input and processing as well as providing general administration support at Sustain's office. Hayley joined Sustain in 2007. Back to top Consultancy Services Richard Kingcott, Engineering Services Manager Richard heads the engineering services team. He has worked for Sustain since 2003, with more than 10 years experience in commercial design and engineering within the automotive industry for large companies such as the British Hydromechanics Association, Professional Motorsports and Goodridge UK Ltd. where he held senior engineering positions.
David Linsey-Bloom, Senior Consultant David is a chartered building surveyor and is one of the UK’s top experts in building regulations and SAP assessments. He works within Sustain’s Built Environment practice. He also assists social housing landlords develop affordable warmth and sustainable energy strategies in his role as consultant. David joined Sustain in 2004 from the Centre for Sustainable Energy, and worked within social housing in the area of energy consultancy for over 10 years. Nick Banks, Senior Consultant Nick provides feasibility, policy and strategy development services to Sustain’s clients in both the public and private sectors. Nick joined Sustain in 2005 with over 10 years experience in working in the environmental sector. He has a MSc in Energy Conservation & the Environment from Cranfield University and completed his PhD from Oxford University in 1998 on the sociology of energy use. Kevin Boniface, Senior Consultant Kevin provides expert advice in his role as technical consultant for renewable energy under the DeltaGen service. A qualified engineer with a background in the HEVAC industry, he has authored the Energy Savings Trust’s Best Practice Guides for Renewable Energy. Kevin joined Sustain in 2005 from the Building Research Establishment (BRE). Marisa Maitland, Consultant Marisa provides comprehensive advice and assistance to Social Housing providers in her role as Consultant. Marisa is also a qualified EcoHomes and Code for Sustainable Homes assessor as well as an authorised SAP assessor. She joined Sustain in 2005 with an academic background in biology.
Katie Hardidge, Social Housing Manager Katie oversees the Social Housing Consultancy team in their delivery of funding to assist in social housing stock improvements. She joined Sustain in 2003 with an academic background in environmental science, in particular waste management. Lynda Bullen, Assistant Social Housing Manager Lynda works with social housing providers to help them access funding for housing stock improvements. She has helped to deliver around £6 million of funding since 2002. Lynda joined Sustain in 1998. Ian Shellard, Project Manager Ian manages Sustain’s Energy Assessment Team and is also a qualified Domestic Energy Assessor. Ian works with solicitors, estate agents and housing landlords to produce Energy Performance Certificates. He joined Sustain in 2004 from Bristol City Council where he was involved in energy auditing and management. Inigo Uribeechevarria, Energy Assessor Inigo is one of our in-house Domestic Energy Assessors fully qualified and accredited to produce Energy Performance Certificates for private and social sectors. He joined Sustain in 2007 with a background in Energy, Environment and Engineering.
Back to top Associates Dr Guy Hitchcock Guy has over 15 years experience working on sustainability issues, mainly in the areas of energy use in buildings and sustainable transport. His PhD was on the social issues surrounding domestic energy use, which he developed whilst working at BRE on projects relating to fuel poverty and building regulations. Recently Guy has become a registered BREEAM assessor allowing him to look at a wider range of sustainable building issues. Kerry Burns Kerry has a background in strategic and policy work in sustainable energy for local authorities, regional government and other non-public sector organisations. He is actively involved in energy and environmental auditing and has a keen interest in architectural design of low-impact buildings. Dr David Martin David specialises in strategic and policy analysis of sustainable transport and renewable energy. He has almost 30 years of international business and energy research and consultancy experience, together with skills and knowledge in project and programme management. His experience covers energy studies in the UK, the EU and in developing countries on a wide range of energy and environmental issues.
