Blue wave surfing?
So the surge was not red, purple or green. In the aftermath of last week’s General Election, two tsunamis are apparent, and they were distinctly blue and yellow as it turned out, wrong-footing pretty much everyone apart from Blairites who, in the case of the blue wave, presciently predicted the outcome of a traditional right versus traditional left contest. So we are left wondering what happened to the centre, with the decimation of the Liberal Democrats and the rise of right- and left-wing nationalist parties, seemingly in Scotland, Wales, North Ireland and England. Within years, it is possible to map out a route to us becoming a collection of nation states, joined only by a common tongue and a coastline.
